Film festival season seems to be constant now days. With a quick break during the holidays, things quickly pick-up in February. We always get busy producing posters, postcards, business cards and our filmmaker packages, which we are proud to boast that Indie Printing was the first printer in the industry to offer filmmaker print packages back in 2003.
This month Indie Printing was involved as sponsors in the Green Lifestyle Film Festival at UCLA, and is sponsoring the upcoming Going Green Film Festival in Century City , Los Angeles’ 7Ten Film Festival, San Diego’s Indie Fest, and The Method Fest in Calabasas/Agora Hills which starts this week, and goes on until March 31st.
Indie Printing’s history with the Methodfest goes back before Indie Printing even existed, so we are always in big support to Don Franken, the Methodfest staff, and it’s filmmakers. The Methodfest is much different than any other film festival, keyword METHOD. The Methodfest is the only film festival that concentrates on the actors performance. There are no categories for animation, music videos, special effects or anything else digitally made. You’ll only find good ol’ fashion story telling and acting at the Methodfest. Along with the films, there are plenty of workshops, events, a few music showcases and celebrity guests and honorees. The Methodfest should not be missed!
Sad to announce that our honorary Indie Printing mascot “Speck” passed away this past Friday. Typically we feel that this should be kept private, and personal, but it was important to post about him to communicate why we as a company donate and spend so much time supporting the positive portrayal of pitbulls, and animal rescue.
Speck struggled over a year with cancer, but spent almost 15 years proving that pitbulls are no different than any other breed of dog. In the wrong hands, pitbulls can be deadly because of their strength, but so can any german shepherd, mastiff, rottweilers, labrador, or any other large breed dog. Unfortunately it’s people who train these animals to be vicious and for some reason the media picks up on these stories and chooses to make any aggressive pitbull breaking news, hard to imagine that pitbulls were once portrayed as “the family dog,” and now are the dog people are scared to have around their families.
Having Speck in our lives proved the complete opposite. We found him to be an amazingly kind, and affectionate pitbull with a gentle soul. We never had any problems with aggression, bad temperament, or territorial traits of any kind. We will surely miss Speck, but feel fortunate that he lived a full comfortable life, and are grateful that he helped us realize how special the breed really is.

Since their early Sundance Film Festival run, Fuel the movie has been creating quite a commotion in much more than the film industry. With the entire world constantly looking into how to better the world through “green” practices, the movie Fuel could have not chosen a better time to strike a chord.
Fuel is described by the creators as the following, Josh Tickell’s stirring, radical and multi-award winning FUEL may be known by some as the “little energy documentary,” but in truth, it’s a powerful portrait of America’s overwhelming addiction to, and reliance on, oil.
Early on, Indie Printing was asked do the movie poster printing, as well as the postcard printing and other promotional collateral for movies first festival and theatrical run. If anyone has ever been to a film festival, there is no denying that in order to get noticed at a film festival, guerrilla marketing is rule number one. Usually 11×17 movie posters, postcards and a few 27.5×40 movie posters will do the trick.
We are happy to announce that Fuel has gone on to win several festivals including Sundance Film Festivals “best documentary audience award.” Indie Printing is always proud of working with independent filmmakers. Independent film was the inspiration behind Indie Printing, which is a whole blog post in itself.
Fuel is now in the process of another theatrical run, and should definitely not be missed. Please support our clients amazing project for the sake of progressive thinking, supporting independent art, and adding an alternative view to the way the world works.

Indie Printing was asked to participate in the Downtown Film Festival. Being that we are in Downtown Los Angeles, it was a no-brainer for us to be involved.
Since 2003, Indie Printing has always been involved and supported the independent film industry, especially the community in our own Los Angeles backyard. Over the course of 3 days, we produced over 30 banners, step-and-repeat backdrops, window decals, credentials, flyers, posters, and foamboards for the festival, in addition to several promo pieces for filmmakers showcasing their films in this years film festival.
What makes the Downtown Film Festival Unique is the variety of not only films, but the music and art showcases that are very much alive in Downtown Los Angeles already. The festival adds to the already booming art galleries and music venues by bringing in people from out of town who normally probably would never have known what Downtown Los Angeles has become over the last 5 years.

The Downtown Film Festival also manages to put together the second annual Sustainable L.A. event which will be located this year at the 7th & Fig. complex in Downtown Los Angeles. Sustainable L.A. will feature several eco-conscious vendors including Indie Printing, promoting and showcasing their sustainable products, foods, and programs in addition to film screenings on the topic of the environment, and sustainability.
The Downtown Film Festival goes on from August 16th – 22nd and Sustainable LA is held on Thursday August 20th from 11am-7pm

Earlier this month, Indie Printing had the pleasure of working yet again with Best Friends Animal Society on their new outreach program called FixNation. Best Friends Los Angeles is gearing up for a large scale, door-to-door marketing campaign to promote its FixNation facility located in Burbank, CA.
FixNation is a non-profit organization, which seeks to make a large dent in controlling the population of feral cats by promoting adoption, encouraging spay/neuter and by offering low cost sterilization to low-income families.
FixNation’s primary mission is to reduce the population of homeless cats by sterilizing as many as possible. Sterilizing feral cats puts an end to their ability to reproduce, which prevents new litters from being born, and helps lower the number of animals being euthanized in city animal shelters every year.
